Mandatory annual modern slavery statement required by large employers!

Mandatory annual modern slavery statement required by large employers!

Large commercial organisations, with an annual turnover of £36 million or above, carrying out business in the UK, are required to publish an annual slavery and human trafficking statement for each financial year ending on or after 31 March 2016, as part of section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Employers will need to set out the steps they have taken to ensure that no slavery or human trafficking exists in any part of their business or in their supply chains. There should be a link to the statement in a prominent place on the company’s website homepage. If the organisation does not have a website, it must provide a copy of the statement to anyone who makes a written request for one.

Businesses in the supply chain of any large organisation may be asked to provide a copy of their anti-slavery statement and those that submit tenders for Government contracts etc. will have to complete supplier due diligence.
