National Minimum Wage increase - Are you ready?

The new national minimum wage rates apply from 1 October 2014:

•    Employees aged 21 or above - the rate increases to £6.50 per hour;

•    Employees aged between 18 and 20 - the rate increases to £5.13 per hour;

•    Employees aged under 18 - the rate increases to £3.79 per hour;

•    For employees completing a nationally recognised apprentice qualification aged 16 to 18 or 19 and above on the first year only – the rate should be increased to £2.73 per hour, all other    apprentices should be paid the appropriate rate for their age.
