Are you eligible for a partial refund on your Power of Attorney application fees?

If you applied to register a Power of Attorney in England and Wales between 1 April 2013 and 31 March 2017 then you may be eligible to receive a partial refund on your application fee. This is because during that period the application process became more efficient, but the application fee charged was not reduced in line with this.

The Ministry of Justice which sets the Office of the Public Guardian’s fees reduced the application fee and launched a refund scheme for those who were charged more than was necessary to apply.

The partial refunds apply to both Lasting Powers of Attorney and Enduring Powers of Attorney.

You must claim your refund by 31 January 2021 and can only claim a refund if you made the Power of Attorney in England or Wales.
